Tell us about your retail store.
In February 2006, the doors of Venue opened. But long before that, a vision had been evolving. For years, Tommy Lyons had dreamed of opening a store where people could gather together to plan, prepare, and shop for the special events in their lives, from pageants to proms, from weddings to nights on the town, and anything in between. When an opportunity to open a new store was presented to Tommy, he gladly accepted the challenge. The name of the store was derived from the very meaning of the word. Venue means the gathering place, and that is exactly what it has become. Venue is located in a popular residential area with plenty of charm. Little Rock’s Kavanaugh Boulevard is lined with upscale boutiques, fine restaurants, and antiques showrooms.

What divisions do your carry?
Venue carries a wide array of clothing and accessories for every occasion. We offer prom and pageant gowns, as well as cocktail dresses and attire for special occasions. Many pageant contestants find Venue to be a one-stop shop, with custom evening gowns, interview suits, swimsuits, and talent attire. For more informal outings, Venue offers a variety of snappy casual wear with many popular brand names of jeans, pants, skirts, blouses, sweaters, and jackets. For the business woman, we provide tailored suits and dresses. We also carry pageant dresses and casual wear for little girls.
Do you offer custom design services?
Venue offers custom design services with many popular designers, like Tony Bowls, Sherry Hill, Stephen Yearick, and many more. Even our popular swimsuits can be custom designed with Jamye Shaw Swimwear.

We do offer gown registry.
What are some of the unique services offered at your store?
Venue truly has become a gathering place for many as they prepare for important events in their lives. Our on-site seamstress is available for alterations. Don Baker, the renowned interview coach, makes regular visits to provide interview coaching. Many talented young people come to Venue for voice lessons with Tommy Lyons. Modeling lessons and hair and makeup services are also available.
How do you reach your customers and grow your relationship with them?
Our comprehensive customer service has been the key to reaching out to customers and making them feel welcome at Venue. We also advertise throughout the United States. Most of our advertisement is through our sponsorship and contributions to state and local pageants. We build relationships with our customers as they plan for big events and with contestants as they prepare for pageant competitions. During the last pageant season, Venue was given the opportunity to serve customers from several states. In fact, contestants visted Venue for their pageant needs from Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, and the Virgin Islands. Gowns from Venue will be seen on the Miss America stage in January 2007.
Where do you see your business and industry trends heading?
Just in the past few months, Venue has grown tremendously.
Why do you love what you do?
Tommy Lyons of Venue has been dressing contestants and helping them prepare for over 30 years. Throughout this time, he has established many lifelong friendships and built strong relationships with the people he has helped. And this is the very reason he is still in the business today. The people. He enjoys helping people achieve their dreams. |
