What are your judging criteria?
We are not just looking for beauty, poise, and sophistication, but an all-around winner with the overall package: poise, personality, intelligence, and beauty. In the private interviews, the judges want to get to know the contestant and her opinions on certain issues as well as how she can represent those opinions with facts and support. In the Swimsuit competition (Ms.), the judges look for poise, confidence, and grace, as well as physical fitness and how well her swimsuit complements her shape and coloring. In the Sportswear competition (Teen), the contestant is judged on good modeling techniques, as well as how her outfit selection fits her personality. In the Evening Gown competition, the contestant is judged on her elegance and sophistication, as well as a how well her gown fits and complements her skin tone. In the On-stage Interview, the contestant is judged on how well she handles the question and can articulate and support her answer. The judging itself is conducted by a team of diverse, professional judges from all walks of life — many in the fashion, pageant, and entertainment industries. Our judging process is meticulously monitored to assure privacy, fairness, and professionalism at all times. All scores are available to all contestants and directors following the pageant.
