Spotlight on National Competitions
America's National Teenager Scholarship Organization
Describe your event.
We are a Domestic Non-Profit Organization.
How many divisions are included and what are the age ranges?
Miss 17 Plus, Mrs.18 Plus, Miss Teen 14-17, Ms. 18 Plus, Supermodel (open to ATOC contestants), Woman of the Year (open to ATOC titleholders and is based on their community service).
How does someone qualify to compete?
We are an open enrollment pageant. Contestants must have a strong desire to participate in community service activities.
What are your judging criteria?
Intelligence, desire for community involvement, platform of interest, physical fitness, integrity, and dedication to system.
What are your required events?
Interviews (intelligence), Evening gown, Swimsuit (choice of one- or two-piece with good taste), Platform of choice, and Modeling (by state and national level).
What can a potential delegate expect to learn from your event?
True friendship. Our queens are so involved with being sisters in pageantry, that they cross state lines to meet and attend events together. This begins way before the event, by use of the internet. They have a special group where they meet and develop friendships, sharing, and caring about each other. Each state representative can’t wait for nationals to meet all the other contestants in person. This first gathering is a mixture of all competition divisions, helping everyone who has entered get comfortable. Among many activities, they meet for a ladies’ night out and make numerous appearances.
Does your event support any particular values, social concerns, or non-profit organization?
We are non-profit, and we support community service first, expecting dedication to the system, honesty, and above all else, contestants must have high morals. Our queens are expected to promote their platforms on all levels of entry, whether it is local, state, or national. Our crowns don’t collect dust on a mantle. They are worn out before a reign is over.
Why do you feel competitive events are important for participants?
In the true spirit of pageantry, we search for the person who can wear the crown and sash with pride, honor, and be a leader to those who have the same ideas of promoting community service to others. We provide a leadership role while fostering friendships, and are proactive in the desire to help each other. We are the kind of pageant system that puts the ladies first, whether they are queens or one day hope to be.
Why do you enjoy being a part of the competition event industry?
We enjoy helping each person show the true beauty from with in their own self. Beauty comes from different directions. It can consist of outward beauty by the use of cosmetics or the genuine one of caring and sharing about your fellow man from within a person’s heartfelt need to help others. You can wear a crown, but how you wear it is more important than just having one. We enjoy watching each queen put their position with America’s Touch of Class to work, using it to be of use to others. It gives us so much enjoyment to see others having their dreams fulfilled with something they never dreamed would come true. It unites ladies of the same interests together to become one giant sorority, moving toward accomplishing thousands of goals.
