ACP’s young ladies (and gents) let the good times roll and find happy days at their 2006 national finals. |
With the theme “ACP Rocks the ’50s” propelling the excitement at this year’s American Coed Pageants’ national pageant, nearly 500 girls and young women between the ages of 3 and 22 from across the United States came together in Orlando, Florida, to compete for their age divisions’ national titles. This was the 24th annual American Coed Pageants’ national finals, and the 13th consecutive year that the national competitions have been held at the beautiful Hilton at Walt Disney World Village in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
To open each of the six national pageant programs, each age division performed two fun, colorful, and energy-filled production numbers. American Coed Pageants, continuing in its tradition of promoting family, faith, and patriotism, featured contestants outfitted in red, white, and blue dance outfits for one of the production numbers, and the second number was in keeping with the overall national pageant theme, “ACP Rocks the ’50s.” Patriotic numbers were performed in the red, white, and blue to songs such as “Sing for You America” and “Rock This Country.” Other dance numbers were presented to “Rock Around the Clock,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “We’re All in This Together,” and “Bop to the Top,” from the TV movie musical hit High School Musical.
Girls and young women qualify each year to participate in the national pageant through their state pageants or through an application process in states where American Coed Pageants does not hold pageants.
For the second consecutive year, ACP has also held national competitions for the boys and men who were in attendance at the national pageant, as well as for women who are no longer age eligible to participate in the Coed age division. All ages are welcome to participate in the American Coed Pageants national pageant. Participation in each of these new pageant divisions more than doubled compared with a year ago at the 2005 American Coed National Pageant.
