2013 MISS AMERICA
T he Miss America Organization and
ABC announced today that Chris
Harrison and Brooke Burke-Charvet will
return to host the 2013 Miss America
Pageant which will be telecast live from
the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in
Las Vegas on Saturday, January 12,
2013 (9:00 - 11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC
Television Network.

“Once again, we are thrilled to an-
nounce that Chris and Brooke are returning to host the 2013 Miss
America Competition, the most watched non-sports program on a
Saturday night for almost two years,” said Sam Haskell, III, Board
Chairman of the Miss America Organization. “Chris and Brooke are
a wonderful team, and together they helped us achieve record rat-
ings on ABC last January, and we are so proud to welcome them
back for another incredible television event. Chris and Brooke were
the perfect emcees for our show, and they helped to successfully
set the stage to spotlight 53 beautiful and talented young women
in our program.”
“The 2012 Miss America telecast on ABC was a tremendous
success, taking the ratings crown as the most-watched non-sports
program on Saturday night for almost two years,” said Haskell.
“With the success of our re-branding Miss America, we have at-
tracted a new audience. We look forward to working with ABC and
Planet Hollywood to make the 2013 broadcast event even more

MISS UNIVERSE ORGANIZATION
Miss Universe 2012 Pageant
Wednesday, December 19th on NBC
O fficial reports have confirmed that the 2012 Miss Universe
Pageant will be headquartered at Planet Hollywood beginning
December 11th, and the NBC telecast is set for December 19th.
The broadcast is scheduled to air the night following the highly
anticipated ratings juggernaught of, “The Voice” finale. Early reports
from Miss Universe and Planet Hollywood’s theater PH Live reveal
the production will be holiday themed to show Christmas around
the world. This is the first time the Miss Universe pageant is being
held in December.
Olivia Culpo, who won the 2012 Miss USA Pageant at Planet
Hollywood on June 3rd this year, will represent the USA against 84
contestants from as far away as Russia, Kenya, Lebanon, Japan,
Spain, Brazil and Australia. Ⅺ

Former Miss America
host Gary Collins Passes
G ary Collins, an actor, television
show host and former master of
ceremonies for the Miss America Pag-
eant, has passed away at the age of
74. Gary, a resident of Biloxi, Mississip-
pi, died of natural causes just before 1
a.m. Saturday, October 13, after being
admitted Friday evening to Biloxi Re-
gional Medical Center.
As an actor, he appeared in numer-
ous movies and was a fixture on televi-

sion in the 1960s and 1970s, playing a
variety of guest roles in comedies and dramas including "Perry
Mason," ''The Love Boat" and "Ironside," among others. He also
starred in regular series including "The Wackiest Ship in the Army"
and "The Iron Horse" in the 1960s and the "The Sixth Sense" in the
1970s. He kept acting for decades, appearing as late as 2009 in an
episode of the TV show "Dirty Sexy Money."
Collins was married to Miss America 1959 and Mississippi native
Mary Ann Mobley. Ⅺ
