Lauderdale, Florida. ontestants as far away as the Virgin Islands converged in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the first National ATB pageant under the direction of Glen- da Byrd-Kaplan. The pageant’s motto is “Age is just a number and beauty comes in all sizes and shapes!” The youngest con- testant was 3-years old and the oldest was 73. The event’s concept is a fun vacation- type pageant, in which mothers and daughters, and grandmothers and grand- daughters, can compete in the same pag- eant while on a getaway. C 114 PAGEANTRY Contestants arrived on Friday, regis- tered, received their gift bags, and got ready to board the Jungle Queen Dinner Cruise Riverboat where the contestants enjoyed an all-you-can-eat dinner. A show followed and the magician called the Golden Ms. Florida, Maria del Carmen Stride, to the stage to assist and she almost stole the show with her funny antics. Saturday morning featured the Little Miss through Pre-Teen Miss divisions competing in optional events, as well as their finals of Interviews, Tropical Wear, and Formal Wear. After lunch, the adults showed their talents in Optional events for the Junior Teen through Silver Ms. divi- sions, as they vied for the titles of Ultimate Grand Supreme. The Finals were held in the beautiful ballroom of the Bahia Mar, where the ladies dressed in tropical maxi dresses for their grand entrances, set to the music of Akon’s “America’s Most Wanted”. After competition it was time for the Crowning ceremonies. Miss Hospitality was 3-year old Briana Azemar, while Angelica Spicer received the Pageantry Spirit Award, Sheila Vitiel- lo received the award for “Most Appear- ances”, and the award for “Achievement and Community Service” was awarded to Maria del Carmen Stride. The 2012 Ultimate Grand Supreme Queens were: Briana Azemar (3 mos.-3 yrs.); Katarina Wronka (13-18 yrs.); An- gelica Spicer (19-29 yrs.); Nikitress Lewis (30-49 yrs.); Sheila Vitiello (50 yrs. and up). There were two Grand Supreme Queens—Vivian Moscoso (30-49 yrs.) and C. J. Marie (50 yrs. and up).
