Heart It’s time to ignite a new love
affair by leaving behind the
cold styles of winter
inally, the icicles of winter fashion find themselves melt-
ing away into the wildly fresh bloom of spring couture.
Spring 2012 shakes the snowflakes from its eyelashes
and opens its eyes to focus on femininity and glamour.
There is no boundary for the use of color this season—
from the tingling accent of pastels to the shocking, bolder neon
colors that are showing in all aspects of fashion design.
Obvious changes include pairing simple yet glamorous fashion
accessories to complement the new trend of floral and digital
prints. Even the most imaginative, visionary, and gorgeous marine
life inspired designs can be seen in a wide variety of collections
from top European designer houses. It is important to keep up this
spring, especially with prom right around the corner and pageants
going into full-drive. Stores will make it easy to pick up on trends
once items arrive in stock, but here is a little preview of what to ex-
pect in the coming months.
F PICKING THE EARRINGS
Be on the lookout for a new trend in 2012’s fashion. There has
been a shift from borrowing from the boys to celebrating glamor and
femininity out on the catwalk. One of the most feminine pieces—
earrings—has made a comeback. Big and bold earrings are one of
the must-have accessories this spring. Earrings will be an ornate
centerpiece of 2012’s look, so grabbing an extravagant pair is a wise
step for those who take pride in staying in vogue. Earring design in-
spiration draws from abstract art and will feature metallic colors.
Not to be overlooked, new ethnic and tribal pieces give earrings
edge and flavor. This abstract and over-sized lobe-tinsel is perfect
for prom or gaining the edge in a pageant. A chic and sexy way to
play up these lively trends is to pair them with ankle-strapped or
pointed-toe high heels. Keep your locks on point with messy buns
for long hair, the freshly tussled bedhead look, or held up with a
condor-style hair clip.
UNDER THE SEA
UNDER THE SEA
A kiss of salty sea breeze will be blowing across trends; marine
life is making a big splash in spring 2012. Prints incorporating ma-
rine life are dominating runways of the biggest couture giants. Look
out for colors reminiscent of the depths of the ocean. Blues, purples
and mint green stones, gems, and bead work are in high demand,
so channel your inner-mermaid when choosing accessories. Im-
pressions of sea shells, starfish, and seahorses are coming in waves
on earrings, necklaces, cocktail rings and chunky bangles. A simple
shell necklace or starfish bracelet will soften a look and has the
power to turn an image from plain to delicate and feminine.
At the peak of the season of love, prom fever pollinates every
town across the country. Prom is an extraordinary event; it is im-
portant to create the unforgettable memory by choosing a dress
that is “you”. Prom-goers should ask themselves a few things be-
fore stepping out: what is your best color? What dress cut suits
your body type?
Keep in mind that dancing is a major part of the evening, so
choose a dress that allows for you to let loose and kick your heels
up. This spring, prom dress trends focus on princess chic and ro-
mantic. Fun, floral patterns accommodate the trend. Long, sleek
